Singer and songwriter Dave Walters was a popular solo professional folk act in the late seventies / early eighties and was keen to develop some of his songs for a band sound. The Dave Walters band in it’s most economical form included myself on keyboards and guitarist Steve Czwortek. The songs were developed during a three month visit to Bermuda where Dave and I were resident at the Robin Hood Inn, Hamilton and on our return the trio went on a very eventful tour of Italy – three musicians, instruments and PA in a Ford Escort type van. There were some English and Scottish club gigs, and festival appearances included Towersey (with a six or seven piece outfit), Broadstairs and Fylde, where the photograph above was taken by Roger Liptrot. There was also a visit to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with two of Dave’s shows, Blake’s Songs of Innocence and Experience and a maritime suite called Bound to go Sailing. The band didn’t sustain but it was certainly fun while it lasted.
