Film Sound

I trained at the Northern School of Film and Television in Leeds, studying sound for film drama.  In those days it was Nagra 1/4" portable tape machines and Steenbeck editors.  Now I use a digital flash recorder and tracklay on a Mac Powerbook running ProTools, while watching a Quicktime movie!

 

Until 2009 I taught sound design to media production students at Salford University in Greater Manchester but to keep my hand in I worked with Pablo Productions, making short black comedies, and with One Day Films who make full length features of a more serious nature.  I also assisted people with troubleshooting audio post issues, mostly doing ADR (dialogue replacement) sessions and foley sound effects work. I'm still available for amateur productions if the project interests me.
